The Next Generation Of Safety: Exploring Lexus Safety System+ 4.0

2026 Lexus LX

Lexus has long been at the forefront of automotive safety. By continuously refining its active safety technologies, the automaker aims to provide some of the safest luxury SUVs and cars on roads from Tarzana to Canoga Park and beyond, helping protect drivers, passengers, and pedestrians alike. With the introduction of Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, the brand is once again raising the bar. Debuting on the all-new 2026 Lexus ES, the LSS+ 4.0 represents the next chapter in an industry-leading safety legacy. Lexus of Woodland Hills takes you through a few of its highlights below.

Lexus Proactive Driving Assist & Other LSS+ 4.0 Highlights For Your Reseda Drives

LSS+ 4.0 arrives with updates to both its hardware and detection capabilities, advancing the integrated sensor technology that has defined previous versions of the system. While Lexus has indicated that full specifications will be available closer to the 2026 ES launch, the system is expected to build on the robust foundation established by LSS+ 3.0. That predecessor suite already included a comprehensive set of features designed to address common accident scenarios, and LSS+ 4.0 is poised to further enhance them.

Key hallmarks of the Lexus Safety System+ include:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection – This feature uses a camera and millimeter-wave radar to help detect vehicles, pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. It is designed to provide audio and visual collision warnings and, if the driver does not respond, can apply automatic emergency braking under certain conditions.
  • Lexus Proactive Driving Assist – One of the more sophisticated elements of the safety suite, Lexus Proactive Driving Assist uses the vehicle’s camera and radar to provide gentle braking into curves or gentle braking and steering support. It aids in maintaining a safe distance from a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist—acting as an intuitive co-pilot that subtly supports the driver before a hazard becomes critical.
  • Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Management – This adaptive cruise control system helps maintain a preset following distance from vehicles ahead, operating at highway speeds down to a complete stop in traffic. The Curve Speed Management function can also help manage vehicle speed through curves when cruise control is engaged.
  • Lane Tracing Assist & Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist – Together, these systems help keep the vehicle centered in its lane and can provide gentle corrective steering if an unintentional departure is detected.
  • Road Sign Assist – Using an intelligent camera, this feature detects speed limit signs, stop signs, yield signs, Do Not Enter signs, and certain warning signs, displaying them on the vehicle’s instrument cluster.
