Before your visit, check whether your vehicle has an open safety recall. You will need your 17-character VIN, found on the lower left of your windshield or on your registration card. Enter it at NHTSA’s recall lookup tool, which shows unrepaired safety recalls from the past 15 years. NHTSA recommends checking twice a year.
